I am so excited that three of my sewing patterns have been shortlisted for the British Sewing Awards 2021.
The Portobello Pocket Dress is up for Best Sewing Pattern and TWO of my sewing patterns have been nominated in the Best Eco-friendly Product category - the Jeans to Joppa Dress and the Barra Button Back Top.
The full list of nominees for each of these categories is shown below.
I am over the moon to have been chosen as a Finalist along with brilliant experts including Tilly and the Buttons, By Hand London and Rebecca Page in the Best Sewing Pattern category and alongside corporate giants such as Hobbycraft and Gutermann in the Best Eco-friendly Product category.
The shortlisted patterns and products are now being made and tested by the celebrity judges and the winners announced in October.
If you are aware of my work, you will know that I design sewing patterns with an environmental focus. Many of my patterns include an option to reuse existing clothing or fabric to help reduce excessive manufacturing, the release of plastic microfibres into our oceans and landfill.
Where possible, my patterns include an option to use existing buttonholes, collar and cuffs (a.k.a. the tricky bits) so you get the benefit of the beautiful professional tailoring and you just need to do some clever cutting and straight sewing.
All of my patterns include step-by-step instructions with photos, illustrations and a one page Quick Guide.
It is wonderful to be shortlisted and I hope it will help raise awareness of my patterns and make a small contribution to combat the detrimental effects of the culture of fast fashion and at the same time, assist people who enjoy sewing and want to create beautiful, quality, handmade clothing.
A huge thank you to everyone who has purchased a pattern and shown an interest in my small business, your support is much appreciated ❤️
